Courts opens second store in New York
Courts, the Caribbean’s largest furniture, electronics and appliances retailer has expanded its U.S. presence by opening its second U.S.-based retail property on Nov. 10, in Jamaica, Queens 89-56 165th St., Jamaica, New York.
This new location complements and build upon the existing patronage established in Flatbush Brooklyn, which opened in 2008.
Yesterday’s formal opening reception was for VIPs, diplomats and members of the media.
With further expansion into the U.S. market and the opening of the second U.S. property, Courts presents a prime opportunity to further build the brand within New York and throughout the United States, and establish Courts as the premier option for Caribbean nationals to furnish their homes in the U.S. and for their loved ones back home across the Caribbean.
Customers can purchase furniture in the U.S. and it will be delivered the next day from a store in their respective country.

Caribbean Furniture Mega Chain Opens doors In New York
NEW YORK - Thursday October 30, 2008 was declared `Courts Caribbean Grand Opening Celebration Day in Brooklyn, USA ` by the Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz as the renown Caribbean furniture, electronics and appliance chain, Courts Caribbean, part of the Unicomer Group, officially added the 94th store to its map.
The declaration came as the chain`s first North America store opened it doors in the Caribbean immigrant-populated borough of Brooklyn, New York at 2822 Church Avenue, between Nostrand and Rogers Avenues - for business.
The debut included a two-part VIP launch event on Thursday evening, October 30th, as top city elected and appointed officials, joined the media, suppliers, community leaders, special guests and top Courts managers and regional directors, in celebrating Courts Caribbean Brooklyn.
Representing the Office of Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Commissioner of Immigrant Affairs, Guillermo Linares, welcomed the store stating, "It is so wonderful to see that we have an enterprise that has emerged in the Caribbean, has demonstrated success and has decided to follow the Caribbean family to Brooklyn.`
"Courts Caribbean made a good decision in choosing Brooklyn to do business and an even better decision to choose East Flatbush," added Yvonne Graham, special assistant to Brooklyn Borough President Markowitz.

Caribbean retailer Courts the NY market
Tapping into the vibrant Caribbean-American marketplace, Courts Caribbean - the popular Caribbean furniture, electronics and appliance chain - opens its first North American store here this week with a free special delivery offer for customers with relatives and friends in the islands.
Courts, which has stores in 11 Caribbean countries, is offering its Brooklyn store customers the option to have orders delivered without charge to Caribbean destinations where the chain has branches.
After months of preparation, promotion and anticipation, the new store, located at 2822 Church Ave. (between Nostrand and Rogers Aves.) opens to the public on Friday, a day after a VIP reception and kickoff at the New York Marriott at Brooklyn Bridge.
A division of the international Unicomer Group, Courts Caribbean started in 1959 and is known throughout the region for affordable appliances and furniture. Courts Caribbean currently operates in Antigua, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia and Trinidad, and has 90 stores in the region.
