“The targeted demographic of the “Rise Up” festival aligns neatly and nicely with our consumers. We saw this as a fantastic opportunity to communicate with our customers using a different forum to use whatever brand equity we have to assist Caribbean Reggae artistes and in so doing bring entertainment to our consumers. “Rise Up” is more than just a festival; the Rise Up organization has a community outreach program happening in the background that assists the poor and disadvantaged in the community, so it is this holistic approach that grabbed us. That is why we are extremely honored and humbled to be associated with “Rise Up”.

$5000 Donation from Courts to the Salvation Army for Annual Christmas Appeal Drive

Courts St. Lucia continues to provide sustainable support to non-profit organizations across the Country. The latest of such initiatives is the company’s recent donation of $5000 to the Salvation Army to assist the group in their distribution of much needed essential supplies to the poor and needy around the island for the season.

The sounds of Christmas music amidst the hustle and bustle of downtown Castries was traditionally the first signal that Christmas was approaching. For many however, the lack of financial resources made it impossible for them to purchase even the basic amenities needy for daily survival and that is where the Salvation Army comes in!

The annual Christmas Kettle Appeal Drive launched by the Salvation Army is the group’s single largest fundraising effort as the proceeds of the appeal go towards the annual children’s Christmas party and assisting needy families during the holidays. Courts is very much appreciative of the work of the Salvation Army, noting that most of its objectives are similar to that of Courts. Giving back to the vulnerable in society and helping the poor is a primary focus of Courts which is why the company is proud to support the work of the Salvation Army.

Courts Fully Furnishes newly Constructed Home for Family of Eight in Soufriere

Almost $10000 worth of new Furniture, Appliance and Electrical Products were donated.

Saint Lucia and the Caribbean’s leading Electrical, Furniture and Appliance superstore Courts, embarked on yet another philanthropic initiative on Thursday April 10th  , geared at improving the current living conditions of Soufriere resident, Ms Mariana Butcher, and her family of eight.

Earlier this year, a request was sent in to Courts, on behalf of the Butcher family, by a few concerned citizens, pleading for some urgent recourse to what was becoming a very dire situation. Marianna Butcher, a 45 year old single mother of eight, had been struggling to raise her eight children on her own, whilst living in the most adverse conditions. Her children, all attending the infant, primary and secondary schools in the community, are between the ages of four to eighteen years old.

Although resilient in their quest for some level of normalcy, the Butcher family could hardly afford the basic necessities necessary to survive. The interminable efforts of the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation and the St. Lucia Social Development Fund led to the construction of a four bedroom house for the family as a means to an end to their hardships.

At Courts, we make it our responsibility to do what we can to benefit the communities we serve, targeting education, and health and community development; this ties in nicely with our Corporate Social Responsibility. Using this as our mandate to continue Bringing Value Home, we welcomed the opportunity to be a part of the hand over to the Butcher Family, by way of completely furnishing their home with brand new furniture, appliances and electronics. The donation from the company included a 32” Television, a three piece sofa set, three mattresses with matching bases, a stove, a refrigerator and $1000 worth of grocery vouchers.

The keys to the Butcher Family’s brand new home, completely furnished with Courts products,  was handed to the family by Hon. Harold Dalson; Minister for Social Transformation, Local Government and Community Empowerment and Parliamentary Representative for Soufriere/ Fond St. Jacques, in the presence of Courts representatives, the SRDF, SSDF, members of the press and residents of Soufriere.

The donation to the Butcher family came on the heels of significant donations to the St. Lucia Renal Association and the St. Lucia Autistic Resource Centre; all geared towards improving the lives of those in need.
